APSA style is published by the American Political Science Association and is used primarily in political science research. This citation generator follows the APSA Style Manual for Political Science.
APSA references follow Chicago author-date style: Last Name, First Name. Year. Title. Place: Publisher. For journal articles: Last Name, First Name. Year. "Article Title." Journal Name Volume(Issue): Pages. Use title case for all titles. Italicize book and journal titles. Put article titles in quotation marks. The reference list is alphabetized by author's last name, then chronologically for multiple works by the same author.
APSA uses author-date parenthetical citations: (Smith 2024) or Smith (2024). For two or three authors, include all names: (Smith and Doe 2024) or (Smith, Doe, and Brown 2024). For four or more authors, use 'et al.' from the first citation: (Smith et al. 2024). Include page numbers for direct quotes: (Smith 2024, 45). For multiple works in one citation, separate by semicolons: (Smith 2024; Doe 2023).
